Part ONE My life onwards I came to Christ.
I was raised in a popish Catholic family so I was brought up believing in God and Jesus. My parents were also alcoholics, and the arguing and violence I witnessed in the home contradicted what I was learning in Sunday School. kindred most sons I grew up to be h hotshotst corresponding my Dad. I joined the U.S. Marines two days after graduation. When I left home I believed I was mature ample to handle the kayoedside world. I was wrong. I was too untried and too dumb to notice that I was becoming just like my parents, partying and drinking to escape the reality of my choices.

I began to see my need for Christ while in Marine Corps base training. I learned quickly how the Drill Instructors would leave recruits but on Sundays until after we attended religious service of processs. The Protestant chaplain held his service after the Catholic service, so I began attending the Protestant services to have more free time on Sunday mornings. It was this chaplain that initially introduced me to the idea of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. After basic training I was put in some very dangerous and stressful conditions and free-base myself conversing with God.
I became a foxhole Christian, only seeing one side of the reality that is God.

After leaving the Marines I met and married my wonderful married woman and together we took up hot air ballooning as a hobby. Our flight instructor, Carroll, was a devout Christian and would entreat regularly throughout the day. I was astounded by his tape of faith. He never made a scene out of praying, he made it seem like the normal and indwelling thing to do. Our families became close friends. Carrolls son-in-law worked for a local Christian radio station and he had extra tickets for a Jerry Williams concert. My married woman convinced me to attend with her.
